From the masks they wear on their faces
you can tell that these animals are raccoons. And, as you can
see, Jeannie really likes raccoons. She has real ones visit the
cottage every night. These raccoons are made by various companies.
In back is a Raccoon Pillow from Jaag, the five
raccoons in the middle are, from left, Romeo Jr from Purr-Fection,
Rascal the Raccoon from The Stuffed Animal House, next to
him is a Snuggle Buddy Raccoon from Wild Republic, next to him
is Forest the raccoon from Jaag Plush, next to
him is a Raccoon from Hansa Plush.
The
raccoons in front are, from left, Baby Romeo from Purr-Fection,
Mini Cushy Critter raccoon from Purr-Fection, a little
Raccoon keychain from The Stuffed Animal House, Reilly Raccoon
from Bearington Plush, next is a Hansa Plush raccoon from
Boland Inc., a little Raccoon figurine and Tonto
the Raccoon from Douglas Cuddle Toys.
Raccoons are equally adaptable to suburban,
rural and forested areas. They will eat almost any type of food,
including berries, bird eggs, rodents, crayfish, insects, nuts
and grain.
It has been said that raccoons wash everything
they eat and they do have a tendency to dunk their food before
they eat it, but this is not necessarily the case.
Raccoons mate in late winter and have litters
of around four babies in the spring. They do not hibernate but
are generally not as active during cold weather.
Many of the raccoons shown at top
can be found in the Gift
Shop.
Here are some raccoons from Jeannie's
own personal collection.
Clockwise from left are Ringo
the Raccoon Beanie Baby from Ty Inc., next is Bandit
Bushytail from Boyds, Radcliffe the Attic Treasure
made by Ty Inc. is in back, the silver raccoon in front of him
is Bandito, another Beanie Baby from Ty Inc. We have a
little Raccoon from the Coca Cola International Bean Bag Collection
and Racky Raccoon from Russ, a Luv Pet , and finally at
far right is Bandit the Puffkin made by Swibco.
Here are a few new raccoons that
have come to live at Jeannie's Cottage. The big one and the three
little ones are made by UNIPAK and the tiny one is a fur figurine.
