Hippo stuffed animals and plush toys are at Jeannie's Cottage.

Here are some of the Hippo stuffed animals and plush toys living at Jeannie's Cottage. These little purple, blue and green hippos are made by a number of different companies.They include from left, Happy the Beanie Baby hippo from Ty, Henrietta the purple Hippo Puffkin from Swibco, a purple Chime Animal Hippo from Baby Ganz, a blue Lil' Kinz Hippo from Ganz, a big blue/green Hippo with pink spots from Douglas Cuddle Toys, and a green Pluffie Hippo called Tubby made by Ty Inc. Tubby and the blue Douglas Hippo with spots are sold out. Some of the hippos living at Jeannie's Cottage are available through the gift shop.

This little group of Hippos includes, clockwise from left : Tubbo the Ty Beanie Baby, Hilde the Hippo from Boyds, Silly the Hippo from Baby Boyds, Rufi the Hippo from Discovery Channel, a brown hippo from Wild Republic, a little grey Zoo Animal Hippo made by Ganz, and last is the Lou Rankin Hippo named Thurgood.

The hippopotamus is a large animal with a barrel-shaped body and short limbs; it may reach a length of 14 feet, a height of 4 feet at the shoulder and weighs 4 tons. The skin is almost hairless and is two inches thick in places. The color is greyish black above, lighter and pinkish below. real_hippo When floating in the water the eyes and nostrils protrude so that they are above water.

Hippopotamuses live in herds, sometimes of large ones, in rivers and swamps and feed, mostly at night, on water plants and grasses and other vegetation ashore. They can swim fast when under water and also walk along the bottom. On land a hippo can run as fast as a man and can even gallop at a faster pace for short distances. They do not wander very far from water. The sound they make is a loud grunt or bellow. A single young is born after a gestation of about eight months; the baby often rides on its mother's back while she is swimming or floating at the surface.
