Pachycephalosaur is a Greek word pachycephalosaur_stuffedanimalmeaning thick-headed lizard. This dinosaur walked on two feet and had an interesting dome-shaped skull that was up to 10 inches thick. At one time scientists thought the dinosaur used its head to butt others like a mountain goat, but then they decided it would actually cause injury to the animal, so now they are rethinking their position on this idea. Pachycephalosaur may have used its dome-shaped skull for protection against carnivores.

The mouth was shaped like a beak and the eyes were in front, possibly giving it binocular vision. It is believed that Pachycephalosaurus had an acute sense of smell.

Pachycephalosaur was a herbivore and did not eat meat. They lived during a time scientists call the late Cretaceous period. Fossils have been found in Montana, South Dakota, and Wyoming.
