The Triggerfish is of the Balistidae family. It is fearless and aggressive. This fish has a remarkable first dorsal spine that becomes erect when the fish is endangered. The smaller second dorsal spine also becomes erect and locks in place the first spine. This makes for a very unpleasant meal for any predator. This fish also uses the mechanism by wedging itself into a tight place and when the dorsal spine is erect, it is impossible to remove the fish from its hideout. Triggerfish feed on crustaceans, echinoderms, mollusks and fireworms and starfish. |

These fish are made by Douglas Cuddle Toys. They include the clownfish named Bobo, the Common Blackdevil Anglerfish and the Lady Moorish Idol Fish. Clownfish, also called anemonefish, belong to the family Pomacentridae. They are small fish, ranging in size from 4 to 7 inches long. They are also colorful, generally yellow, orange or red with white bands. The anglerfish belongs to the Family Melanocetidae. These are soft-bodied fish with the characteristic growth on the head used to angle or fish for prey. In some fish this growth, called the esca or illicium, can be luminescent, glowing in the dark, also helping the fish lure prey. Anglerfish are small, reaching a length of only 5 inches. The Moorish Idol fish (Zanclus cornutus) is related to the Surgeonfish family. It is the only member of the family Zanclidae. The average size of the Moorish Idol is 7 inches, but they can reach 9. It lives in tropical to subtropical reefs and lagoons throughout the Indo-Pacific. |
